MEMBERSHIP
Thank you for your interest in wanting to learn more about membership at Poplar Springs.
Belonging to Christ means belonging to his church. While all believers are part of the universal church and body of Christ, the expression of that is carried out through the local church. In fact, it's the local church that is most spoken of and addressed in Scripture. To be a Christian is not to just belong to the church (universal) but a church (local). We believe that should mean something. We value the church's practice to faithfully live as a community of Christ followers in what we call meaningful membership. In membership a church accepts responsibility for a Christian and the Christian responsibility for a church. This is a commitment to mutal care, accountability, and discipleship in Christ.
Our process for coming into membership is outlined below.
Membership Process
Step 1: Attending Worship Service
Our times of worshipping together are the cornerstone of membership at PSBC. We encourage you to attend several Sunday worship services with us. This will give you an opportunity to meet some of our members and discover our approach to biblically ordered worship.
Step 2: Starting Point - Membership Class
Attend Starting Point, a two-part membership class that introduces our beliefs, leadership, culture, and commitments. This class is required for membership but open to anyone interested in learning more about Poplar Springs.

Step 3: Membership Application & Interview
Once you have completed all classes, and you desire to continue pursuing membership, you will be asked to complete a membership application and schedule an interview. Don’t be intimidated! This is simply a time for the Elders to hear your story personally and answer any questions you have about the church.
Step 4: Next Steps & Finalizing Membership
Following the membership interview, Elders will guide you through the next steps. For some, it may be waiting and learning more about continued discipleship or baptism. For others, it may be signing the Statement of Faith and being recommended to the congregation for their vote of affirmation into membership. Either way, we will be here to walk you through each step.
